Renault has expanded the Duster lineup in India with a new strong-hybrid powertrain, bringing improved fuel efficiency to its midsize SUV. Priced from ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 claims a fuel efficiency of 29 km/l.

The new hybrid version is aimed at buyers looking for an SUV that combines everyday practicality, performance and lower fuel consumption. It adds another powertrain option to the Duster range as Renault looks to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive SUV market.

Renault Duster Hybrid: Price and Variants

The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is priced between ₹16.99 lakh and ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in Evolution, Techno and Emotion variants.

The addition of a strong-hybrid powertrain gives buyers another option, particularly those who prioritise fuel efficiency for daily city commutes and longer journeys.

1.8-Litre Petrol Engine With Two Electric Motors

Powering the Duster Hybrid is a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The hybrid system produces a combined output of 160 PS and 208 Nm of torque.

Renault claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/l. The system can also support electric driving for up to 80% of city driving, depending on traffic and operating conditions.

The powertrain is paired with a multi-mode automatic transmission designed to manage the interaction between the petrol engine and electric motors. The system aims to balance performance and efficiency without requiring the driver to plug in the vehicle for charging.

Features and Equipment

The Duster Hybrid offers a range of comfort, convenience and technology features. Highlights include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control and wireless smartphone charging.

Other reported equipment includes multi-colour ambient lighting, an electric tailgate and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Safety equipment and feature availability may vary by variant.

What Makes the Duster Hybrid Stand Out?

The strong-hybrid system is the main highlight of the new Duster. By combining a petrol engine with electric motors, it can reduce the engine’s workload in suitable driving conditions and improve fuel efficiency, particularly in urban traffic.

Unlike a conventional mild-hybrid setup, a strong-hybrid system can drive the vehicle using electric power under certain conditions. The battery is charged through the hybrid system rather than requiring an external charging connection.

For buyers who want the convenience of a petrol-powered SUV with the potential benefits of electric assistance, the Duster Hybrid offers an alternative to conventional petrol powertrains.

Bookings and Deliveries

Bookings for the Renault Duster Strong Hybrid have opened with a reported booking amount of ₹21,000. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026.

With its claimed 29 km/l fuel efficiency, 160 PS output and feature-rich cabin, the new hybrid version adds a significant option to the Duster range. Its real-world fuel economy, driving performance and long-term ownership costs will be important factors for buyers evaluating the SUV.
