Mercedes-AMG GT SUV Revealed With 1,169hp, 700km Range and 710kW DC Fast Charging
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a new electric SUV that brings together serious performance, a long claimed driving range and ultra-fast charging. Called the AMG GT SUV, it is the brand’s first full-size SUV developed entirely in-house.
The SUV will be available in three versions: GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63. While all three are electric, the GT 63 sits at the top of the range with a claimed power output of 1,169hp.

Up to 1,169hp and 0–100km/h in 2.5 seconds
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SUV produces up to 860kW (1,169hp) and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Its top speed is 270km/h with the optional Driver’s Package.
The GT 55 produces up to 816hp, while the GT 53 gets 544hp.
The GT 63 and GT 55 use three electric motors, with two at the rear and one at the front. The GT 53 uses two motors, one on each axle.
These figures put the GT SUV firmly in high-performance territory, even before considering the technology Mercedes-AMG has packed into its battery and chassis.

Up to 700km range and 710kW charging
The new SUV gets an 800-volt electrical system and two battery options with usable capacities of 106kWh and 128kWh. The larger battery offers a claimed WLTP range of up to 700km.
Charging is another major highlight. The 106kWh battery supports DC fast charging at up to 600kW, while the 128kWh version can charge at up to 710kW.
Mercedes-AMG claims the larger battery can add up to 450km of WLTP range in 10 minutes. The smaller battery can add up to 380km in the same time. Charging from 10 to 80 per cent is claimed to take around 12 minutes with the larger battery.
These figures depend on access to compatible high-power chargers and suitable conditions. Actual range and charging times may vary.

Built for corners, not just straight-line speed
A powerful electric SUV needs more than rapid acceleration to feel like a proper performance car. Mercedes-AMG has equipped the GT SUV with an active suspension system designed to reduce body movement while cornering, accelerating and braking.
Rear-wheel steering is also standard, helping the SUV feel more manoeuvrable at lower speeds and more stable at higher speeds. Its all-wheel-drive system adjusts power between the front and rear wheels depending on driving conditions.
The GT 63 and GT 55 also get a system that can distribute power between the rear wheels to improve cornering performance.
In simple terms, these features are intended to make a large SUV feel more controlled when driven enthusiastically, without making everyday journeys uncomfortable.

A sporty design with a spacious cabin
The AMG GT SUV has a low roofline, broad shoulders and muscular wheel arches. At the rear, six circular tail lamps give it a distinctive look, while active aerodynamic elements help manage airflow at higher speeds.
Inside, the dashboard features a 14-inch central infotainment screen and a 10.2-inch digital instrument display. A separate 14-inch screen is available for the front passenger.
Despite its sloping roofline, Mercedes-AMG says the rear cabin offers generous headroom and legroom. The SUV also gets a three-seat rear bench and folding rear seatbacks.
An optional panoramic glass roof can switch between transparent and opaque settings. Buyers can also personalise the vehicle through the MANUFAKTUR programme, which offers more than 60 exterior paint options.

An electric AMG with simulated engine sounds
One interesting feature is the AMGFORCE Sport+ driving mode. Since the SUV has no conventional combustion engine, Mercedes-AMG has developed a sound experience that recreates the character of a V8 or six-cylinder engine, depending on the variant.
The system also simulates gear changes and uses seat vibrations to make the driving experience feel more involving. The sounds change according to how the vehicle is being driven.
Whether this appeals to traditional AMG enthusiasts remains to be seen, but it shows that the brand wants its electric performance cars to offer more than just impressive acceleration figures.

Price and availability
The Mercedes-AMG GT 53 SUV will open for orders on October 20, 2026, with prices starting at €113,050 in its announced European market. The GT 55 and GT 63 are scheduled to follow in spring 2027.
Mercedes-Benz has not announced an India launch date or pricing.
With 1,169hp on tap, a claimed range of up to 700km and DC fast charging of up to 710kW, the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV brings supercar-level performance into the electric SUV space. It also shows how Mercedes-AMG is adapting its performance DNA to an all-electric future without giving up on speed, driving dynamics or everyday usability.
