Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG Launched in India at ₹9.99 Lakh, Claims 24.7 km/kg Efficiency
Mahindra has added a new option to its compact SUV lineup with the launch of the XUV 3XO ZNG. Priced from ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new version brings CNG technology to the XUV 3XO while retaining the turbocharged performance and features that define the SUV.
What makes the XUV 3XO ZNG interesting is its focus on performance. Unlike many CNG-powered passenger vehicles that prioritise economy above all else, Mahindra claims the new SUV delivers the same power and torque figures in both petrol and CNG modes.
Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG: Engine and Performance
Powering the XUV 3XO ZNG is a 1.2-litre mStallion turbocharged engine with a dual-fuel setup. It produces 82 kW (approximately 111 PS) and 200 Nm of torque in both petrol and CNG modes.
Mahindra claims a 0-60 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds in CNG mode, while the 0-100 km/h sprint takes 11.8 seconds. The company also claims a certified fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg.
The SUV uses a 10-bar CNG injection pressure system, which Mahindra says has been engineered to improve responsiveness and efficiency. It can also switch automatically to petrol when the CNG supply runs low, allowing the journey to continue without requiring an immediate refuelling stop.

CNG Tank Placement Leaves Usable Boot Space
One of the practical challenges with CNG vehicles is the space taken up by the cylinder. Mahindra has addressed this through an underfloor twin-cylinder arrangement.
According to the company, this setup leaves the XUV 3XO ZNG with a flat loading floor and 270 litres of usable boot space. The spare wheel is positioned underneath the body, helping preserve luggage capacity.
For buyers considering a CNG SUV for daily use, this packaging could be an important advantage, particularly when carrying luggage or shopping.

Features and Safety Equipment
Mahindra has retained several of the XUV 3XO’s familiar features in the ZNG version. Depending on the variant, the SUV offers a 26.03 cm HD infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a Skyroof, Dolby Atmos audio, black leatherette upholstery and R16 black alloy wheels.
Other features include cruise control, rear AC vents, a 60:40 split-folding rear seat and connected-car technology on select variants.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard across the range. The vehicle also gets an integrated gas-leak detection system that can switch the engine to petrol mode if a leak is detected.
The XUV 3XO platform has received a five-star Bharat NCAP rating for adult and child occupant protection. However, this rating relates to the existing XUV 3XO; buyers should check the applicable certification details for the CNG version.

Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG Price and Variants
The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is available in four variants, with prices starting below ₹10 lakh.
| Variant | Ex-showroom price |
|---|---|
| MX Edge | ₹9.99 lakh |
| REVX Edge (O) | ₹10.79 lakh |
| AX5 | ₹11.19 lakh |
| REVX A | ₹12.27 lakh |
The prices make the XUV 3XO ZNG an option for buyers looking for a compact SUV with the potential for lower fuel expenses without moving to a conventional naturally aspirated CNG setup.
Bookings and Deliveries
Mahindra has announced that test drives will begin on October 15, 2026, while bookings and customer deliveries are scheduled to start on October 20, 2026. Customers will be able to book the SUV through authorised dealerships and Mahindra’s official website.

A Different Approach to CNG SUVs
The XUV 3XO ZNG is an interesting addition to India’s CNG market because it combines a turbocharged engine with a factory-fitted CNG system. Its claimed output of 200 Nm in both fuel modes, along with the underfloor cylinder arrangement, addresses two common concerns for buyers: performance and luggage space.
Whether this combination translates into a compelling real-world ownership experience will depend on actual fuel economy, drivability and long-term running costs. Nevertheless, Mahindra’s latest launch gives buyers another choice in the growing compact SUV segment, particularly those who want the practicality of CNG without giving up the character of a turbocharged SUV.
