Hyundai Motor India has launched the BAYON at a starting price of ₹9,99,900 (ex-showroom). The new SUV combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with connected-car technology, driver-assistance systems and a range of comfort features.

With more than 80 advanced safety features, dual panoramic displays and two transmission options, the BAYON brings together several features that Indian SUV buyers look for. It will also be manufactured in India and exported to more than 50 international markets.

Technology Inside the Cabin

The BAYON features Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), powered by NVIDIA technology. It integrates two 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.

Hyundai Bluelink offers more than 70 connected features, while over-the-air (C-OTA) updates are supported for up to 19 controllers. The SUV also gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose premium sound system and more than 500 embedded voice commands.

Another highlight is the generative AI voice assistant, which uses technology from Perplexity and SoundHound AI. It is designed to respond to natural-language queries on topics such as weather, travel, restaurants, news and sports.

1.5-Litre Petrol Engine With Two Gearbox Options

The BAYON is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder MPi petrol engine producing 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT).

The iVT version gets Dash Boost Mode, designed to improve responsiveness during overtaking, along with Sporty Drive Tech. The SUV also offers Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes, paddle shifters and an Idle Stop & Go system.

The 1.5-litre engine is already used across Hyundai’s Indian lineup, with more than six lakh vehicles powered by this engine sold in India since 2020.

More Than 80 Advanced Safety Features

Safety is a key part of the BAYON’s equipment list. The SUV offers more than 80 advanced safety features, with more than 35 provided as standard across all variants.

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), a roll-over sensor and a high-line Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The BAYON also gets Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS, featuring 23 driver-assistance functions. These include Highway Driving Assist, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control functions, a Surround View Monitor and a Blind-spot View Monitor. Feature availability may vary by variant.

The SUV is built on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform, which uses high-strength steel in its body structure. The company has also highlighted the platform’s structural rigidity and occupant-protection engineering.

Comfort and Practicality

The BAYON measures 4,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and 1,605 mm in height, including roof rails. It has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and a claimed ground clearance of 205 mm.

Inside, the SUV gets ventilated front seats, an eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof and a wireless phone charger.

The rear seats feature a 60:40 split-folding function and a two-step reclining feature. Boot capacity is rated at 505 litres, providing space for everyday luggage and longer trips.

Other cabin features include ambient lighting, leatherette seat upholstery, a sliding front console armrest, Type-C USB charging ports and a smart key with push-button start.

Exterior Design

The BAYON features H-Edge LED daytime running lights, dual LED projector headlamps, geometric wheel arches and bridge-type roof rails. At the rear, H-Edge LED tail lamps and a sporty spoiler complete the design.

Selected variants get 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Exterior colour choices include Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey, along with selected matte and dual-tone finishes.

Variants and Colour Options

The manual range includes HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10. The iVT gearbox is available with the HX5, HX6, HX8 and HX10 variants.

This gives buyers a choice between a manual transmission and an automatic-style driving experience through the iVT, depending on the variant selected.

Made in India for Global Markets

The BAYON will be manufactured in India and exported to more than 50 international markets, adding another model to Hyundai’s Indian production and export portfolio.

With its 1.5-litre petrol engine, connected technology, Level 2 Pro ADAS and extensive safety equipment, the BAYON brings together performance, convenience and driver assistance in one package.

Starting at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), its appeal will depend on how buyers weigh its features, engine and variant-wise equipment against other SUVs available in the market.

All prices are ex-showroom. Specifications and features may vary by variant.
